Shanghai MOCA (Museum of Contemporary Art)

Opened in 2005, and one of Shanghai’s first privately-owned and run museums, the Shanghai Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) regularly exhibits the most ground-breaking work from China’s burgeoning contemporary art scene.
The museum’s central location in People’s Square also makes it the perfect starting point for a day tour of Shanghai’s contemporary art galleries, including Art Labor, the Duolun Museum of Contemporary Art, Moganshan Road galleries, the Zendai Museum of Modern Art and the Shanghai Propaganda Poster Center.

The museum’s huge bay windows and large patio offer pleasant views of People’s Park, while indoors the newly opened third floor ArtLab, a trendy spot for live performances and exceptional international and local exhibitions make the museum well worth a visit.
