Shanghai Wild Insect Kingdom

Sure there’s an “Insect Gallery,” a “Butterfly Valley,” and replicas of exactly the kinds of environment – caves, rain forests – where you’d expect to find creepy- crawlies, but the strangest thing of all about this very strange place indeed, is how much non-insect life is on display.

Turtles, lizards, hamsters, rabbits, alligators and owls all make an appearance at this kitschy kingdom right in the heart of the city’s business district. Kids are unlikely to complain, though, given the array of interactive displays on offer, and the chance to get up close and personal with that electic mix of residents.
